A glimpse into my scale modeling hobby

About Me

My name is Jason Tiearney, and I live in the St. Louis metro area. I have a beautiful wife who is very supportive of all my weird nerdiness, and I am a high school Latin teacher by day and scale modeler by night (and weekend). I also really enjoy reading and watching movies. As you can see, many of my modeling interests come from my love for Science Fiction TV and movies. The other odds and ends kits come from my love of exploring the world and its history. Thanks for checking out my site, and I hope you enjoy reading about my hobby as much as I enjoy doing it!

  1. Hi, Jason. I’m Mikel Mendibil Ainzua and I’m working with MIG Jiménez. I would like to use one of those images for an add for Mexico. Can I?
Please answer as soon as posible at mikel@migjimenez.com. Thank you very much!

    Hi Jason,

The finished model looks great! Can help to advise what type of micro drill and th drill bit sizes you are using for this model kit?

Appreciate your help to advise as I am new to this area and will be doing one soon.

Thanks and look forward to hear from you.

    • I got the micro drill at my local hobby store, but I can’t remember the brand. Anything that is small and hand-operated should work. For most of the holes I used the smallest possible size you can get. Check out the website for Madman Lighting and you can find downloadable PDFs with all of the info you need.

Hey Mr. Tiearney, I finally, formally, presented that model I was talking about to the Jeff Baracks POW museum today; thought it might interest you to get to take a look at it.

    • Yes, thanks for sharing Reed. The finished product looks great, and I read your background for building the kit. What a great experience!
